To refudiate or not to refudiate?

"Sarah Palin raised linguists` eyebrows this weekend when she urged Muslims to "refudiate" a controversial mosque -- then defended her garbled English as Shakespearean.

The darling of the Republican right coined the word Sunday in a Tweet criticizing plans for a mosque at Ground Zero in New York.

At first Palin appeared embarrassed, deleting the message on her Twitter page and replacing it with a call for Muslims to `refute` the plan, this time using a real word.

I find these pictures to be a complete riot. I have said all along this is a controversy created by the media and politicians. If they had not opened their mouths this would not have been an issue for people. Since they are being told to be outraged, they are. If this had opened as a strip club would the politicians have complained?

Well I am not a fan of religious structures in general, but given that they exist it comes down to whether or not an Islamic Center can be built in an abandoned Burlington Coat Factory and I can't think of a good legal reason why not. The only reason seems to be a xenophobic, media created sensation. After all in 2008 foreign investment in the United States from the Middle East was over $12 billion yet nary an indignant peep was heard about dollar one of it.

I think "refudiate" is the best New Word since "misunderestimate" (Bush the Lesser)

The idea of a Islamic Center a few blocks from Ground Zero sure is giving a lot of people the vapors

On the Daily Show, in response to flimsy attempts by the Fox News gang to link the Imam behind the so-called Ground Zero Mosque to terrorism, Jon Stewart used the same tactics to connect Rupert Murdoch to Osama bin Laden.
